My Love/Hate Relationship with Lists

LifeMarylin6 Comments

Lists... ahh lists, you'd think that for someone who's such a planner obsessive, I'd love them, right?

And sometimes I do. When I have a lot of things I need to remember, lists are awesome! And of course there's all the pretty paper and writing utensils to use while making them! *drools a little*

Then again, there's the pressure that I put on myself to get so much done when I make a to-do list, and that just makes me feel like crap.

I mean, you write a list at the start of the day of everything you want to accomplish. Maybe it's not even that big a list, but then life gets in the way, and before you know it, the whole day is over and oh look, not one thing has been checked off, or maybe one or two things, but that list is still full of things that you didn't get around to doing.

Talk about a way to make you feel like you've done nothing. No thank you!

So my favourite list is the have-done list: one that I write in everything I've done during the day (as I do them!), instead of the things I want to do.

See, when I look back at that list, I realise that even if I haven't done what I'd hoped, I've still done a fair amount, and that makes me feel good!

Feeling good is where it's at, and if that means not writing to-do lists, but have-done lists, then that's what I'm gonna do!

What about you? What's your take on lists?

I'd love to know what you think in the comments, feel free to share on social media if you liked reading, and don't forget to subscribe on Bloglovin' to keep updated with every post!

Have a wonderful day! ❤

Family

This is the perfect example of our little family... Max trying to be all sweet and adorable for a selfie (yes, he poses well for the camera!), and then oh, look there! It's Zack making a silly face in the background!

Add in Kenzi the yorkie who has a compulsion to lick everything - even air, and Milo the black cat who seems to have made a pass time of grooming himself to the point he's got a balding butt... yeah, I think our family is pretty damn special. ;)

Our Friday Nights In

Ah Friday... I used to always look forward to Friday night... get all glammed up, go out for drinks with friends at the student union, dance until the music stopped, and walk/stumble home via the local kebab shop.

That was the life!

These days though, my Friday nights are tame in comparison, and I wouldn't change them.

I have these two gorgeous boys you see... and when we get home from the school pick up on a Friday it's high fives and fist-bumps all around as soon as we're in the door... it's the WEEKEND!!

We often get an order in, pizza, chippy or something similar, and get cosy in our jammies to sit together, while all playing on our own devices... Kindle, DS, iPad, the usual.

We'll find something to watch together on TV, and enjoy a little picnic of food while we're watching (Jurassic World is next on the cards, that Zack saved up his pocket money for all by himself!), cosied under blankets and just enjoying being with each other.

Of course this doesn't happen every single Friday, but most weekends at some point we'll do that.

My favourite part though, is once the kids are in bed... all tucked up and out for the count.

The time when I can finally relax and catch up on some random tv, or do some gaming, before going to bed safe in the knowledge that I don't have an alarm set for the next day.

Bliss!
