The thing about arting is…

by Marylin on July 2, 2011

fab faces week 2

…it’s the process that’s so much fun.

The drawing,

the erasing,

the mixing of colours.

Trying different mediums,

and generally getting messy.

The end result?

It’s nice,

but it’s not why I do it.

For me, arting is a way to

let go.

To just be in the moment.

To meditate, almost.

Definitely something I am enjoying doing more often!

What do you do to relax?

Jean July 3, 2011 at 9:33 am

That is divine. I love to knit and read to relax. Knitting is almost like meditation because you have to focus on the stitches and after a while the rhythm becomes very relaxing. As for reading…these days all i want is something to make me laugh XXX

OOh I agree 100%. I used to be a clean freak but now I’m finding that the messier my hands and workspace, the more fun I’ve had.

Marylin July 3, 2011 at 12:32 pm

Ahhh, see I’d love to *like* knitting, but no matter how many times I try, I just can’t bring myself to enjoy it! LOL
*hugs* xxx

Indeed! Same here! Though I really need to do a tidy up of my desk etc right now – there’s barely enough room for my keyboard and mouse! Art supplies and random toys are all over it! >_<

ummm……
It’s beautiful drawing, wish I could draw, I don’t have the patience. I use to play the piano, I’d like to do that. We’ve been talking about buying one for a while now. I think we’ll get one sooner rather than later.

Right now I don’t actually do anything to relax, I need to I have been so angry today.

Barbara July 3, 2011 at 8:36 pm

I love the end results of your arting.

Hmm, what do I do to relax? Take on more voluntary work usually!

Marylin July 4, 2011 at 10:32 am

I got a piano last september. *love* it! Though I could never play brilliantly well, I do love to have a good old tinkle of the ivories. :)
*hugs* sweety, hope today’s going a bit better. xxxx

Thanks, sweetheart! And honestly… I am gonna have to come down there and teach you how to just *be*, aren’t I? ;) xx

This post is so going on the group site.
Simply awesome.
Hugs to you and the not so wee ones.

I love that, it’s so pretty.
I doodle in my sketch pad. I might blog a doodle today actually.
I write poems and short stories.
And I LOVE to watch films.
I love playing my guitar and singing.
Oh yes, I TOTALLY am a YouTube junky. I just love it!
Thanks for this post, you made me think about what I do.
It’s so easy to forget when you’re a Mom isn’t it.
Love and hugs.
Lisa. xx :)

I thought you’d probably like it! :) *hugs* right back at you from all of us here, including the puppy! xx

It really is hard to remember these things sometimes! Though once you get out of the fog of mum-dom that descends when the littlies are really, well… little!
SO important to have something *just* for you though. :) xx

Thank you so much for sharing!
The girl is sad, but so beautiful!
What I do to relax? : crafting and watching movies at the same time, chat with my internet friends. Thanks to Effy and her e-course arting and art-journaling is about to join my arsenal :D

Lindy July 8, 2011 at 3:00 pm

I eat which would explain my big belly!

Marylin July 8, 2011 at 6:51 pm

Thanks Rita! I’ve yet to figure out how to do smiling eyes, but I’ll get there! :)

Effy is awesome, isn’t she? I can’t believe I only found her in April! xx

Marylin July 8, 2011 at 6:53 pm

I still do that too, but not as much as I used to. :)
Also? Your belly’s got *nothin* on my belly, so there! hehe xx

Rita alias alatvian July 8, 2011 at 7:18 pm

:) Can’t believe I found her actually only a week ago! :)

Such a beautiful piece of art, and beautiful (very true) words! Sometimes it is good to step back and look at the process just as you put it.
