    Sunday Snippets 6/12-12/12

You know when your kids/spouse/dog says or does something totally blogworthy and you think "I've *totally* gotta blog that" but then it only works out at about 3 lines of a blog post and that's just not enough so you just leave it and forget it ever happened? Well, that's why I thought I'd start Sunday Snippets. You can write down and/or photograph something cute, funny or generally blogworthy that happens as it happens throughout the week, and every Sunday make it into a post. I figured since we're all friends here in this bloggy community that maybe you might like to find out what others are up to as well!

    1. Write your Sunday Snippets post.

    2. Get the button in the right sidebar over there to thwack onto your post, and link back to this post (please!).

    3. Add the link to your blog post to the MckLinky at the bottom here.

    4. Read what some of your fellow bloggers have been up to, comment on at least one.

    5. Spread the love, let others know about Sunday Snippets!

Lots of stuff happened this week.

I blinked and missed it though!

So here's a cute lil video of Max who's discovered his love of dancing to Zingzillas!

Feel free to share any snippets from the week with me! :)

(McLinky isn't working for me this week, so feel free to leave any links in the comments and I'll edit the post to add them!)

Ella from Notes At Home tells us about getting into the Christmas spirit among other things!

Jen from The King and Eye's little ones are such sweeties and doing oh so well! :)

Barbara from Bsouth has such adorable kiddies!

Well, unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard me moaning mentioning being snowed in on facebook and/or twitter.

I mean, at first it was pretty, and there was so much of it, and it looked like fun!

However having now been stuck inside for a full week only surviving off the scraps my friends and family have brought over (ok, really they've been absolute stars bringing us bread, milk, and anything else needed. God knows what we'd have done without them!), I am SO over the damn snow.

Max freaks out if I try to stand him in it. He runs back inside and says "mummy buggy peez peez buggy peez", and howls when of course I say no as I can't get it moving in the bloody snow!

Even Zack is bored of it now. We've made a snowman. We've had the snowball fights. We've had a full week off school.

Time for LOTS of rain and warmth to just get rid of the snow entirely please!

    -----

There has been a word explosion in this house since last week!

On top of please, buggy, bread, and 'nana' for dummy, now we're getting again (agay), yeah, no, thank you (an kooo), Zack (Dack, or Ack) and cow (his table mat is a cow)!

It's like a switch has flicked in his brain and he's now on a roll!

Oh the look in his eyes when I repeat what he says and it's the right thing! It's just the most amazing feeling ever!

    *gushy mummy moment*

    -----

Zack has actually been a wee star this week, despite having been off school the whole time.

He's been polite, helpful, and generally kept himself busy, including cheering up Max if or when he thinks it's needed!

Seeing the two of them playing together has me completely at a loss of words. It's makes my heart soar. The smiles, the laughter, the connection between the two of them is so obvious now. :)

    -----

I've even figured out how to stop Max screaming for hours on end!

So long as I keep Zack away from Max till he's asleep, it's all good!

Turns out that Zack's attempts to "cheer up" Max have been causing the upset all along.

So for now, Zack gets to stay up a bit later cosied up in my room with my iPhone to play and cartoons to watch till Max is asleep.

If only I'd figured this out sooner!

Oooh it's been a productive week here... Christmas shopping is DONE! Just need to sort out those Christmas card lists now... (family one, Zack's class, Max's nursery... lots of writing to do).

I've even finally ordered some wide-fit wellies! Bout time too. Hope they arrive asap... bloody snow!

    -----

Max's talking and communicating is really coming on.

    Like, REALLY coming on.

This week we're getting the following regularly:

    Peeeez = please

    bed = bread/sandwich

    mummmeeeee = mummy (YAY! :D )

nana = dummy (don't know why, but when he's lost his dummy, that's what he says!)

    Not only that... he's started...

    Wait for it...

    Wait....

POINTING!! Not just pointing to what he wants, but if I point at something, he looks to where I'm pointing!

He's also starting to do what he's told (sometimes) even if he doesn't want to.

For example, bedtime is sometimes a bone of contention with Max. He's exhausted but doesn't want to leave my side. I can understand that. I am awesome after all!

He'll cry and wail and be Very Upset at me, but he will still trudge up the stairs, albeit very slowly.

    Progress? We have LOTS!

    -----

Today we went up to the square to see the celebrations for the Christmas lights going on. It was freezing, but my boys did well. Zack was pointing out lots of friends, and generally enjoying himself. There was a free mini panto too, which was great as our feet were starting to feel, well, I don't know what as I couldn't feel mine! You get the picture!

Zack sat happily on the mats for the kids, and the guy who was organising it very kindly let me take Max in on his buggy as there was no way otherwise he'd sit still, and he was screaming the second I tried to take him out of the buggy.

To say they both enjoyed it was an understatement! Zack was giggling and shouting with the rest of the kids, and even Max started laughing his little head off when the two sisters in the play 'fell' into each others faces with 'custard'!

Zack was completely besotted with the Christmas lights. Especially since his bestest friend from school was one of the kids helping to switch them on! As soon as the two of them meet they're full of hugs for each other. Seems my lil lad has a wee girlfriend! LOL :)

Other than that it's been a quiet one this week... what about you?

Friday: Max has been on a roll today!

He took me through to the kitchen (typical boy, always thinking of his tum!), pointed (yes, I did say POINTED!!! He's NEVER pointed before!!) at the bread, and said... actually SAID "bed peees" (bread please)!

He's also figured out it's a lot easier for him to just *say* please, than have to sign it, so... YAY!

My lil man seems to be starting to talk a bit!

    YAY!!!

    -----

    Zack: I fancy you mummy.

Me: Eh, why do you say that Zack?

Zack: cause I love you and like to give you kisses and cuddles, so I fancy you.

    Me: *melts*

Picture the scene. It's a cooold morning. I've just changed a stinky nappy of Max's and am going out the back to put it in the bin.

I am about two steps out of the door and go flying up in the air and fall on my side. It would have been funny to see, I'm telling you. Was on the ground before I knew what was happening!

Seems I forgot that my decking turns into an ice rink in the cold weather...

    *cough*

    -----

Max called me MUMMY!!! He honest to god looked right at me, and said MUMMY! He also said it as I was nipping to the loo while my friend was over, so it's not just me that heard it! :D

    *happy dance*

AWESOME Sunday Snippets here (mostly!), I think you'll agree!

Just two more sleeps till Max starts nursery. WOW it's gone by quickly! We've been going to playgroup, and spending time with some friends with littlies around the same age as Max (developmentally that is, ie they're 2 and a bit), and the only time he gets upset is when we have to leave! Or if there's food around that he's not allowed to have. OK so there have been tantrums about other littlies taking whatever toys he's lining up to play with, but he's getting used to that, which is a really good thing. OK it's a great thing! He's been doing so well! So, yes... 2 sleeps till nursery. EEK!

    -----

Zack has been falling asleep next to Max in his cotbed lately... I made the decision (grudgingly) to pop my old tv/dvd combi tv in their room in the hopes that Max would be calmer in the evenings, meaning it would be easier for both him and Zack to get to sleep. Also to help me stop tearing my hair out with him being awake till after 10pm some nights. So far it's working. You do what you have to, right?

So yeah, that it *so* cute to see, unfortunately I don't dare take a photo in case I wake one of them up. We all know if you wake one, you might as well have woken the other, right?

    -----

Zack was up half of wednesday night hacking and coughing and generally being very unhappy. He finally fell asleep at about 7.30am, so I called the school for him to have the day off. By the afternoon he was bouncing off the walls though, so I figured he'd be fine for friday. Until he did the same thing thursday night too.

Oh, and did I mention he also woke up on friday night at about 3am crying his eyes out cause he felt something on the bed 'like a mat, like Max's changing mat', only it was still in it's usual place. Bad dream I'm thinking? So we ended up sleeping in my bed for the rest of the night.

    -----

Max said "buggy"!!! Clear as day! He's been wanting out more and more lately, which is fine, except for when it's pouring with rain and we don't have to go out for anything, so he led me to his buggy and said it. I was SOOO proud of my lil man!

We still didn't go out though. I know, I know, I'm mean, but it was lashing down and FREEZING!

He's also become very tactile all of a sudden. Will come over and engage with me to play tickles ("ickehzzz'), and generally play rough and tumble on the sofa. So! Much! Fun!

    -----

The rat is on the sofa right now, pining for me. She's sitting at the edge looking at me, I think she'd like some attention! She still loves it when I play the piano. It's like she goes into a wee trance!

    -----

That's my Sunday Snippets, have you got any to share this week?
