    My Wee Shadow... 13/366

    Shadows 13/366

He really has become my wee shadow lately.

    Max, that is.

He actually wants me to be close to him.

Not just next to him, but touching.

When he comes into my bed in the morning (or in the middle of the night, as it has been lately, argh!), he HAS to make sure his body is touching me.

It used to be he wouldn't want me near him like that.

He'll reach out for me to tickle him, or hold his hand.

Instead of shying away like he used to.

He's even started taking my hand, and leading me up to my bed in the middle of the day, just so he'll be able to snuggle up with me while he chills out watching movies on my iPad!

Very LOUD movies, that absolutely HAVE to be on the highest volume or THE WORLD WILL END don't you know??? I think it's just his way of ensuring I don't fall asleep, but anyway...

He's also started wanting to play with Zack more.

It's a whole new side to him, we're seeing.

He suddenly *wants* to join in!

He *wants* to be a part of the fun.

He *wants* to be cuddled and tickled and has even started coming up to me to initiate Nosey Nosey Kiss!

It's a new chapter in his life these days,

and luckily? It seems that he's desperate for us to be a part of it!

Is that? No... it can't be. It is. It's a SUNNY DAY!! 5/366

    Meeting the horses 5/366

I woke up this morning, after a horrible night with not much sleep and a Wide! Awake! Max from 2am-4.30am, and I actually thought I saw SUNLIGHT peeping through my blinds.

    Turns out - it was!!

Which had me so excited I got dizzy and had to sit down again after getting out of bed so quickly to look!

Did I mention I was woken by a solid lump of a 4 year old Max using me as a diving board for my bed? No?

Well... he's definitely better from whatever it was that was wrong with him (fever, grumpy, tired, not his usual self, basically).

So, we're finally ALL feeling well, and more than a bit stir crazy from staring at the same walls every day.

Not that any of us actually stare at walls - that would be strange.

No, I prefer to attempt to lie down for a snooze and stare at the ceiling. Much more interesting.

ANYWAY, the furthest we've ventured since the schools were out (that was the TWENTY THIRD of December, mind!) was the shops which are like a 20 minute round trip to walk. That's including actually *doing* the shopping, by the way.

So we (ok, I... the boys are too young to decide these things! *cough*) decided to go up The Knock, to have a bit of a picnic (what do you mean pop tarts don't count?? The boys loved them!) and head back down.

Really it was to get us all the hell out of the house and somewhere that would tire everyone out!

Well, we met some gorgeous, friendly (i.e. scavenging for food type) horses on our way, who followed us as far as their paddock would allow.

Zack was smitten with this one, as he was with us. He was the one who must have got the whiff of the last crumbs of pop tart as we were giving him pats and scratches behind the ears.

[Note to self: You've now found your horses to go and cuddle when you want to, yay!!]

We had a good long walk. It's gorgeous up there.

Max had a great time and the only time he got upset was when we had to go home.

If we'd stayed any longer I'd have ended up carrying him home. You should have seen the state of his feet! Caked with muck! He really seemed to enjoy the way it felt - all squelchy underneath his boots. That was pretty awesome to see. I wasn't sure how he'd take to it!

So, all in all? A good first attempt at a longer walk for my boys and me. It was an hour and a half by the time we got back home. All of us rosy cheeked and sooo glad to get into the warmth of the house, cosy up with a drink and some chocolates, and watching Rio. The new favourite movie in our house!

Oh, and look at the gorgeous view we had when we were nearly back on the highstreet:

Other than being cropped, I haven't done anything to this one either - not bad for being taken with an iPhone!

    Happy Birthday Max

    Max's fav birthday pressie... Jigsaws!

    I can't believe that's you four already!

After yesterday's jaunt to the local A&E (thank you wheezing and asthma!) I wasn't sure you'd be up to much today, but you proved your mama wrong, and I'm so glad!

It's taken till this birthday for you to really have any sort of idea that it was a day *just* for you.

You actually ripped open your presents!

You looked at your cards, before putting them on the mantlepiece where you saw me put the others!

You even managed to do the jigsaws we got you first time around without having looked at the pictures, or needing any help. Something I hadn't realised you could do so well! Keep on surprising me, I love it!

The birthday cake that Aunty Tammy made you was delicious, and there's even some left for tomorrow, AND some for Granny and Grandpa.

You tried to figure out how to blow the candles out, but Wee Max (Aunty Tammy's Max, who's 3) did most of it for you - he was such a good help, wasn't he?

In fact, other than looking tired and a bit pale by the end of the day, you really seemed to enjoy yourself!

    Happy Birthday my little Maxi-boy!

You are so loved, and you're starting to realise that now, aren't you?

    My beautiful baby boy.

    I love you xxx

    The Puppy Has Landed!

    Aaand now he's conked out! <3 113/365

He's here! Finally, after wanting a dog for *far* too long, and deciding that it wasn't the right time, there wasn't the time, or the money and so on and so forth. FINALLY our wee family is complete! We has a puppy!! He's a lab collie cross, 8 weeks old, today to be exact. We have named him Alfie, and he is *adorable*!

Not only adorable, but, so far at least, he's so chilled out! Of course that may be because today has been quite a day for him. He was the last of his (10.. yes... TEN) littermates to go, and 4 of them were today. This is his first time away from his mamma. He is doing *so* well!

No accidents as of yet, he'll follow behind me wherever he goes. Until he sees Zack, in which case he follows him! The cat is, well... becoming tolerant of him, and Max has kind of noticed him, but is keeping his distance for now! Oh... and he sits! Like, on demand! I swear, even when my friend and I were eating our carry out tonight, after a couple of "ah ah ah" moments, he just lay down at our feet and fell asleep!

Of course... this can't possibly last.

    Can it?
