Sometimes you just need some time out! 22/366

Spent my evening here playing games... <3 22/366 #project366

So last night, once the boys were tucked up in bed? That's exactly what I did!

I spent my entire evening immersed in a story about dragons and people with magical powers who were oppressed and need me to help them.

    In other words...

I gamed my little heart out! (Dragon Age 2, if you're interested!)

    It was great fun.

I think it's something I may need to do once a week.

I don't often spend long on games, though I love to play them.

There's too much else to be done!

I took the above photo last night, just before going to bed.

And this one was taken while typing this out...

The wee bugger who broke my keyboard. With said keyboard. >_< 23/366

This would be my now broken (and replaced... dear god, me not having a keyboard is like having my arms cut off!!) keyboard, with the culprit.

The little bugger saw Zack's milk this morning and decided that the best way to have a drink would be to knock it all over the damned keyboard.

I didn't realise this until about 3 hours later, when I attempted to log into my mac and got something along the lines of "asdlisudfvbnsdmf -[w90845290whnef vksj h" instead of an 8 character password.

    Goddamn cat!

    Haughty Rocky 3/366

    Rocky 3/366

I love it when Rocky gives me this look.

It's usually when I either do something stupid, or say something that could be interpreted as being mean (in a loving way... *cough*) about his lack of manly cat-ness for a big tough looking guy.

Honestly, I'm sure he understands what I'm saying.

Oh and the LOOKS he gives me if I've had a few drinks!

If cats could roll their eyes...

You can really tell in this one - he thinks knows he's superior in every way.

Complete disdain for the one who feeds him.

    Thing is...

I know that he's really a cuddly sook.

Who has the most pathetic attempt at a meaow that has ever been known.

    Honestly.

It's like he starts out going to meaow, then gets scared, and stops.

    Hilarious to listen to.

    I laugh, of course.

    Then I get this look.

    Every. Single. Time.

    Wonder why...? ;)

    Three Weeks On...

and I'm still not smoking... go me!

The first week was HARD. Particularly the first 3-4 days.

I didn't realise how often I went to have a cigarette until I didn't have any to smoke!

I had to stop myself from logging on to chat places that I was used to frequenting, as I just constantly craved a smoke.

So instead I took to gaming my little heart out, and drinking water whenever I felt the pangs of wanting a ciggy.

Yeah... a gaming addiction is *much* better than a smoking one, trust me!

In fact, I've been playing Skyrim so much, Max has even started wanting to sit with me to watch me play sometimes, bless him!

I'm talking about taking my hand over to my mac, pushing me onto the seat, and placing my hand on the mouse, followed by "wim pweeess".

I kid you not, earlier today I watched the most amusing parody on youtube about it, and Max kept saying "gain, gain" (again) after I finished watching it, so this video has been played easily about 20 times in this household today.

Literally. About 25 minutes of this on a loop.

And I'm actually still finding it amusing...

Easily pleased am I, and Max is following in my footsteps so it would seem!

So yeah, three weeks yesterday since I quit smoking, and took up Skyrim.

It's a damn good trade off, I've saved a buttload of money (enough that I'm viably IN THE BLACK for the first time since I became a student nearly ten years ago!), and best of all...

Max hasn't had a single wheezy minute since Alfie left (still whimpering about that one, but he's v happy where he is, and I must admit, it *is* a lot easier without him about.) and I quit smoking.

That in itself is reason enough for me to keep going!

    Also?

Rocky DaCat is a *very* happy boy now that he rules the roost again...

    Rocky Da Cat

Meet Rocky, named after his tough guy appearance, like Rocky Balboa, only cuter, and more fluffy.

Rocky has been in our lives for just over two years now. We were lucky enough to rescue him from the Dundee Cat's Protection Centre when he was just 9 months old. His owners didn't want to part with him but they had to move and weren't allowed pets at their new residence.

I still remember the day I first saw him. I had taken Zack with me to the centre just to find out what the deal was with it all, how to go about adopting a cat, whether there were any there that took our fancy, and just generally get a feel for the place.

We went all around the place. There were about 40 cats there in various pens, all looking very uncomfortable in the blazing heat we were getting that summer, but otherwise in good health, and all looking their best for their visitors.

It was a Saturday afternoon, and the place was quite busy.

Rocky was lazing on a shelf in his pen, looking very inquisitive in the way that only young cats do. We were allowed to go in to see how he would react with Zack (we had been told he was one of the friendliest cats there, and to take a look at him). Well, my almost-3-yr-old (at that point!) went straight over to the toys to find one to play with the cat who was named Gizmo at the time.

I let him sniff my hand, and instructed Zack to do the same, so that he could get to know us.

    He purred, like a tractor.

Zack waved the dangly toy in front of him and he played for a moment before deciding that he enjoyed me tickling him behind the ears more.

I carefully tried to pick him up to see what his reaction would be.

    He let me.

Only for about ten seconds, but still, he let me.

I asked Zack if he'd like Gizmo as our pet, and he replied something along the lines of "yes, now can we go get some food?". That's my boy... always thinking about his flippin stomach!

As we left the enclosure and went to speak to the people in charge, I couldn't help but say loudly that we would go tell them that we wanted to bring him home with us. There were other people about, and I knew that no one would let a beauty like him stay there for long.

A week later, after a home-visit to check our house and garden area was suitable (I reckon this should be put in place for people who are pregnant to be quite honest. I've seen a lot of people who just don't take care of children the way they should in my time), we brought Gizmo home, and re-named him Rocky.

This tough guy cat who is always Top Cat around the neighbourhood (both when we were in Dundee and where we are no), is friends with the rabbit.

    They follow each other around.

And, he sniffs at the rat, but won't lay a paw on her.

    Some tough guy eh?

    :)
