How do you decide what to write about?

Are you one of those born organized people who have a schedule and stick to it? Or are you the sort of person who writes when the whim takes you? Do you try to blog every day, or just a few times a week?

What if you're really struggling to think of a decent post, but you just can't think of anything at that point. You *really* don't want to not post (if, for example, you blog every day), but you don't know where to start. When I hit a wall like this that, I write about it, and try to think up ways of working around it.

I know that there are lots of areas that I can cover, but I'm not sure where to start. Maybe that's my problem. Maybe I have too wide a list of things to talk about. Maybe that's what leaves me struggling.

So here are some random excerpts from my day:

    *****

I read some more of my Understanding Exposure book, but haven't yet implemented any of what I've read. I think I will need to write notes of the important bits of info so that they're all in the one place, easy for me to get to.

    *****

I took some photos of the leaves in my back garden today once the rain had stopped, but I just couldn't get the macro shots I was wanting. Whether it's my kit lens, or my expertise that were lacking, I just couldn't get that really close up shot of those gorgeous water droplets that I was hoping to capture.

My cat is currently trying to type my blog post for me, but I told him - you only need one space in between paragraphs. He didn't listen.

    *****

I still have a lot of stuff to unpack in my bedroom. It seems to be the place I've put boxes full of things that don't have a home yet.

    I'm working on it.

(At least I finally have one huge mofo of a bedroom!)

    *****

Things are starting to normalize around here. The 4 yr old has started at his new nursery, and we're finding out about other playgroups etc to go to that can help fill up our weekdays.

    *****

I want to get back into my usual routine, but there's too much good tv on late at night, and I don't have Sky Plus yet.

    *****

I really should get my butt to bed now so I can start getting up earlier to be more productive around the house at least. ;)

    Night all!

I don't think I ever plan what to write about... but then, I don't post everyday either. I just write when the urge hits me... which is good some days, and bad others. And it generally means all my blogs get posts spammed at once, since I am a total instant gratification fiend and can not schedule posts to save my life.

It was nice hearing about your day :-). oh... and my cat does the exact same thing. they should form an 'Aspiring Furry Four-legged Writers' group!

I think it might be your kit lens, it may not have a great macro ratio like a true 1:1 or even 1:2 macro lens, so don't punish yourself about it! I know they say gear isn't a big deal, but in terms of lens effects, that's one that makes a difference, just like a really wide angle lens, there's just no good way to replicate it with a standard lens! Depends on the minimum focusing distance too, like how close you can get to the subject before the lens stops being able to focus :)

I think their memoirs would be pretty awesome, don't you? Mind you... I don't think I'd want him telling all my dirty secrets - that's *my* job! ;)

I soooo want a macro lens, but they're just *way* out of my price range *sigh* Maybe one day... when I meet a millionaire who wants to sweep me off my feet? ;)
