I come bearing a cautionary tale!

After my Mum split with my Dad, she met a bloke from England over the internet. Eventually he moved up here. Turned out me and my brother absolutely hated him, and he basically destroyed the family, and now… well, you’ve read my blog post today, you know.

I’m not saying this would happen or is even likely, but… just be careful of relationships so “soon” (being a few months) after a split. Sometimes they don’t work.

(To balance that, my Dad is still happily married to the Scottish woman he met about 6 months after the split, though he’s not so happy with her kids, but they like him. )

If both of you are cool with not being able to see each other in person for long periods of time, then it could work out. My aunt was away from my to-be-uncle for a year and they talked every day on the phone. Now they’re happily married.
