Hi! My name is Marylin. I live in Scotland with my two gorgeous boys Zack (born July '05), who loves Ben 10, and anything Mario and Sonic related, and Max (born Oct '07) who has a cracking sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and is autistic.
Pure Unadulterated Softthistle is a place for me to just be myself. I get to write about what I want (*usually* the kids!), when I want, at my own pace. I usually try to update 2-4 times a week. It just depends on what's going on in my life at the time I suppose, as it does with most of us!
This isn't my first blog, I have been blogging since November 2007, which feels like a lifetime ago now! I ended up moving over here in Oct of '09 as I was feeling very censored on what I could say. My parents read it, nuff said yes? Though these days they read it too, and I've come to realise that actually, if it's not something I'd want my mum and dad to read, then I probably shouldn't be posting it at all! It's all about "authenticity" these days, but really not every story is mine to tell, and that's getting more and more lately, even for my boys as they grow up. Seriously, I told them to stop it, but they keep growing!
I love the community that I have found myself in since starting blogging. Having so many other like minded people out there really makes me feel more at ease with myself, which is a nice way to feel. I love knowing that, regardless of the time where I am, there will always be someone around to chat to. Kindred spirits, people who have a completely different outlook on life... the diversity of us all is what makes life fun after all!
I'm a total glass-half-full girlie, who loves turquoise (I even love saying the word... tur-quoi-zzzzzz... ahhhh, *grins*) and purple. I've rediscovered my arty side after an absence of it in my life for over ten years, and boy am I glad to find it again! There's nothing better than listening to music, getting some paints and colouring in things for the boys and myself, and making a big, fun mess! It's all about the creating and how that makes you feel, not the end result!
I adore photography and finally got my beloved Nikon D90 at the start of this year, and have been SO enjoying having a camera that will do what it's told, and come up with the results I see in my head when I take a shot. Photography has really opened my eyes - I *see* the world so differently now. The way the light touches the buildings first thing in the morning, the whispy cobwebs in the old trees around my home, those gorgeous wee tootsies that my wee boy has. (I would say boys, but Zack's now at that age where he has smelly boy feet. URGH!)
I'm all about remembering to take time to love yourself, cause as far as I'm concerned, how can you possibly love someone else without really knowing and loving who YOU are? I've tried it twice before, the boys' dad and I were together before I really knew who *me* really was, and the second, well... he definitely didn't love who *he* was, and you can imagine that didn't work well!
At the end of the day? We're ALL different, none of us are perfect, we all have these flaws and imperfections that we see and look down on ourselves with. You know what though? If it weren't for them, you wouldn't be YOU! And you are AWESOME at being you! Never forget that! You are LOVED!
